The most powerful ingredient of meaningful astrology may be deep listening. There is an art to cultivating a relationship with the stories and creatures living in our skies and souls. When we relax the mind’s hunger to know and delineate, to speak for and about the sky, we can actually give the sky herself space to speak, resulting in a genuine experience of revelation. Through several examples drawn from his consulting practice, Jason will share ways of holding this kind of space in one’s life and also in astrological consultation: methods of tracking and perceiving symbols when they appear; how symbols evolve and the stages they often take in conversation and contemplation; and how practicing astrologers can make their consultations and their lives a more suitable habitat where creatures of the symbolic world can live. We will draw inspiration from work with animals in the wild, dreamwork, archetypal psychology, alchemy, and especially from the story of Penelope. Arguably the true hero of the Odyssey, she is the one who kept the noisy know-it-all suitors and their techniques and scheming out of the throne, so that the genuine storyteller immersed by the seas of the unconscious could bring fresh life to the kingdom.

Jason Holley has been a practicing astrologer for 35 years and a practicing psychotherapist (LPCC) for over 15 years. Jason’s work as an astrologer is relational and archetypal: how do we connect more with all our relations, both within ourselves and around us? He facilitates a living experience of astrology through experiential methods developed from long study and practice of mythological storytelling, archetypal psychology, psychodrama and action methods, meditation and ceremony, and ecopsychology and relational-somatic therapies.
Jason leads online and in-person classes, workshops, retreats, and pilgrimages/tours to sacred sites. He has been an invited speaker for most regional-national (US) and international astrological conferences and organizations (including NORWAC, ISAR, UAC, FAA-AUS, EAC, AFAN, Kepler College). He has led retreats and workshops in Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, and throughout the US. He has been a faculty member of Southwestern College in Santa Fe, a consciousness-oriented counseling and art therapy graduate school, for 15 years, teaching Psychology of Consciousness, Addictions, Career and Life Development, and courses on Human Sexuality. He is also faculty for Astrology University and the Center for Psychological Astrology – Mercury Internet School (CPA-MISPA) online, as well as the newly-established Center for Astrology, Myth, and Symbol (CAMS).

Due to the experiential nature of this workshop it will NOT be simulcast. In-person attendance ONLY.
One of the biggest questions of a human life is how to honor the multitude (sometimes cacophony!) of instincts we astrologers see reflected in the animals and gods of our skies. In this workshop we will work to understand those creatures in our skies and our souls who have difficulty relating to one another: those in so-called difficult aspects such as squares and oppositions; those where planets have trouble seeing one another as in aversion/inconjunction; and those where planets have difficulty in differentiation as in conjunctions and stelliums. We will explore some ways these aspect patterns tend to play out, and then engage the planets in aspect directly through action methods and techniques including embodiment, imagination, work with dreams and images, and psychodrama methods. In the course of the workshop, you will learn some new methods of astrological and psychological perception and engagement, develop a deeper experience of planetary empathy for yourself and others, and discover the multiple layers of relationship that are possible between planets in your own sky and psyche.

The malefics, Mars and Saturn, meet in the nebulous waters of Pisces in April 2024. Referenced by Austin Coppock as a “disaster predictor” this, astrological configuration occurs every 2 years and is then followed by a period in which planets transiting in its modality are besieged. We will:
Define malefics and besiegement
Explore Hellenistic and traditional perspectives of this aspect
Explore examples of Mars/Saturn transits
Predict what this transit will mean for us at an individual and collective level.
Will this trip through the malefic marsh be one where get stuck and sink or will it be a place of refuge?
