What brought you to astrology?
Astrology brought me to astrology. I didn’t have much of a say about it. It was and still is in my blood. I was a psychology major in college, loved science and math, plowed my way through Jung, and read Dane Rudhyar. Put it all together and it spells astrology.
Why do you practice astrology? What makes it juicy for you?
I practice astrology because it keeps me in touch with the cosmos and the dance between the cosmos and the psyche. It’s the most effective mapping tool I have every found that combines the element of time with personality typing. The juiciest part of astrology is that it escapes to one-to-one mapping that occurs in science. Cause and effect are apparent, but non-binding. The multivalent nature of the astrological archetypes allows for, even requires, the magic of the unknown. We can use astrology to describe an energy without ever knowing exactly how it will manifest.
What is your specialty, or focus?
Although I am enamored with the technical aspects of astrology, I love reaching out to people who don’t yet know about the science, art and magic of astrology. My specialty is being able to talk with those people who are not aware of what astrology has to offer and open their minds to this realm. My Sun Sign books and daily column (which I have been writing for 16 years) reach out beyond the community of astrologers, students and followers. When working with clients, my focus is on synthesis using aspects and harmonics. I’ve been studying and working with non-zodiacal aspects, in particular, the quintile and septile series, and their impact on personality, spirituality and creativity.
Is there a planet, sign, or aspect you’ve been exploring lately that represents an archetype or energy that feels important to you right now?
Yes, as noted above, my observations lead me to the continuing exploration of the non-physical aspects, including the quintiles and septiles. I believe we are in a significantly large shift from the physical to the metaphysical dimensions and these aspects, along with the transpersonal planets, are particularly important to all of us now, whether we are aware of this or not.
What is your picture of astrology in the future?
As someone with 4 planets and the Lunar North Node in the 11th House, Aquarius on my Midheaven and Uranus in my 1st House, I am wired to the future of astrology. I could talk on this (and have) for hours. But I think we will see TPS (Temporal Positioning Systems) that will give people constant feedback about their personal timing, much in the same way the GPS give us feedback about geographical positioning. We will run TPS apps much the same way we now run GPS apps on our mobile devices.
Are there any additional comments you would like to make about your lecture and workshop?
Not at this time.
If you discovered a new planet, or asteroid, what would you name it and why?
I will leave the discovery of new planets to astronomers with telescopes. I am an astrologer with horoscopes.
