What brought you to astrology?

My sister Lucy gave me my first astrology reading when I was 20. I was hooked right away. This first reading of my chart was occurring at a time when I was going through a spiritual awakening without any maps or understanding of what was occurring within me. Astrology gave me that needed map to my immensely active inner world.

I first saw astrology as a valuable tool for my own consciousness growth and became absorbed with Dane Rudhyar’s Triptych as my personal bible. At that time I was on my way to a career as an elementary school teacher and found myself more fascinated by my student’s astrology charts than I was their math scores! And so it began…

Why do you practice astrology? What makes it juicy for you?

Just as my first reading gave me a way of making some sense of my life and to see my connection to a larger order in life, I see this time and time again with my clients and I love it. Helping people find some order in what appears to be the chaos of their lives is very gratifying.

Astrology continues to amaze me as an incredible tool for helping people find meaning, direction, sense of purpose and effective timing in their lives. As astrologers, we are adjuncts to what our culture typically offers people for guidance, and as such, clients are often drawn to astrology after other attempts to seek guidance have failed. It is particularly gratifying to see these individuals feel finally seen and understood, which is astrology’s specialty.

To see that something like astrology, which has been so helpful in my life, can also be incredibly helpful for others is why I practice astrology, and what makes it juicy is the appreciation I feel from my clients from the liberating perspective it gives them in their lives.

What is your specialty, or focus?

I consider myself a blue collar astrologer; its what I do everyday. I also have a full family life and the two have become integrated quite nicely. This is what I am able to help others with; integrate the information from their astrology into their everyday life situations. I consider all of astrology spiritual astrology and helping clients gain spiritual perspective on their lives always gets woven into my work.

Is there a planet, sign, or aspect you’ve been exploring lately that represents an archetype or energy that feels important to you right now?

Neptune is the planet I have been currently working with in my life right now. Mysterious, illusionary, chasing after fantasies, and yet Neptune is also the doorway to the transcendent level of meditation. The ability to imagine and visualize when trained leads to peaceful, calm, fulfilled place within. I would like to see meditation as part of the education curriculum for children. This training of the mind to move away from escapist fantasizing, desires and imagined fears towards the calm spacious awareness that mindfulness awareness brings would be an invaluable resource for our children throughout their lives.

What is your picture of astrology in the future?

I see astrology remaining outside of the mainstream culture through the major Capricorn conjunction of 2020. I expect to see astrology growing in cultural influence beginning with Saturn/Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius on the Winter Solstice of 2020. This will be the beginning of 200 years of Saturn/Jupiter conjunctions in Air signs, and along with Pluto moving into Aquarius in 2023, we could see the true beginnings of the fabled Aquarian Age. The Aquarian cultural renaissance we can expect with these shifts will greatly expand the interest in our craft.

Are there any additional comments you would like to make about your lecture and workshop?

Not at this time.

If you discovered a new planet, or asteroid, what would you name it and why?

Planet Veritas, the Goddess of truth. It seems to be very hard to find and it would be nice to know where it is!
