What brought you to astrology?

Some version of fate and free will. Astrology has been a friend since I was a teenager, but when I found out it could be used to track collective and social movements my whole life changed. Shortly after that I discovered evolutionary astrology and suddenly a whole bunch of life stuff that felt so hard to understand became clear — and I had ways of working with the complexities. Now I consider astrology a soul mate.

Why do you practice astrology? What makes it juicy for you?

I practice astrology because it is one of the most powerful technologies of consciousness that I know of. My whole point in life is helping myself and others transition through the collective rites of passage we’re going through and astrology provides a framework for doing that that is vast and yet highly specific. These days what makes it juiciest for me is the resurgence of interest in animistic perspectives and working with astrology as a framework for relating to the land.

What is your specialty, or focus?

I specialize in soul spelunking and focus on helping folks connect more fully to their place in the universe.  I also absolutely love supporting depth-oriented astrologers as they learn how to build containers that can hold transformation. If I translate that to lineage, I use a blend of evolutionary, humanistic, archetypal and queer astrologies alongside hearty doses of depth psychology, somatic parts work, witchcraft and devotion to using astrology as a tool for increasing awareness of social issues and our embeddedness within interconnected systems.

Is there a planet, sign, or aspect you’ve been exploring lately that represents an archetype or energy that feels important to you right now?

My life is currently featuring a lot of pondering about the nature of Venus and Neptune in hard aspect. It’s very “the pleasure and the pain.” I am also having a love affair with the earth signs and how lusciously safe and full I feel in their presence as season, person or just general energetic.

What is your picture of astrology in the future?

I am so fascinated by Medieval Islamicate astrology and grateful to have folks digging into that and then explaining it in ways I can understand. As the wider community continues to get more grounding in the history of the craft — which is so very important — I find myself feeling passionate about participating in astrology as a living, breathing system that we get to shape and shift moving forward. I want to see more going on in terms of weaving astrology with animism, recollecting our mythological roots and within that ensuring that we honor astrology’s power as an expansive modality rather than one that tries to strictly categorize and pin things down.
