What brought you to astrology?
I had been intrigued by the Sun sign astrology I would read while growing up, but once I realized the existence of natal charts and how to calculate them around my second Jupiter return I became immediately fascinated and have never since stopped wanting to learn more. I was intrigued initially by how astrology revealed understanding about myself and others, and then even more amazed by how it continued to reveal even greater depth the more I explored it. Once I gathered enough knowledge to do natal consultations with people I found joy in being able to help others gain greater awareness of their experience.
Why do you practice astrology? What makes it juicy for you?
I love how astrology helps make sense of my inner world as well as the world around me, especially in the way it gives meaning to even the most difficult times. I always find it rewarding whenever I am able to open someone else’s awareness of deeper meaning to be found in past or current challenges through astrology.
What is your specialty, or focus?
Natal consultations utilizing secondary progressions, various timing techniques, and transits to help people reflect upon their past, broaden awareness for present circumstances, and develop future plans.
Is there a planet, sign, or aspect you’ve been exploring lately that represents an archetype or energy that feels important to you right now?
Saturn and Neptune, which is why I will be talking about them.
What is your picture of astrology in the future?
There will continue to be developments in how to integrate and synthesize the traditional foundations of astrology in ways that resonate more fully with modern cultures, but there will be more emphasis on how to develop practices that address the diverse issues people face today. I feel the increased interest in medical and magical astrology will lead to innovative ideas for remediation. I’m sure that there will be some technological advances that blow open new ways to work with astrology that’s hard to conceptualize now, except that it seems that virtual reality could likely be part of it.
Are there any additional comments you would like to make about your lecture and workshop?
I’m excited to talk about Saturn in Pisces and its extended time sharing the waters of Pisces with Neptune because of how it will lead into a new cycle of Saturn and Neptune beginning in 2026 in the first degree of Aries. The 2026 conjunction of Saturn and Neptune will be a massive turning point in history and so I want to share ideas and generate discussion about ways in which we can work creatively with Saturn and Neptune and prepare for the times ahead.
If you discovered a new planet, or asteroid, what would you name it and why?
I would say the primordial water deity Tethys, but after searching on the Internet I realized she has a moon of Saturn already named after her. And so I will go with her primordial partner Okeanos (Oceanus). I love how creatively fertile Okeanos and Tethys are together and that they are the watery source of life. Okeanos is a boundary in terms of encircling our world, as well as a primordial, oceanic creator deity who is profoundly generative and sets things in motion.
